Economic distress letter from the past

This letter posted on Letters of Note seems appropriate to share given our economic recession and the troubles many families are facing.  The Nigerian man who authored the letter in 1929 was facing many more challenges than we are all likely to be (he was, as he said, “very bewifed and much childrenised and recently dejobbed,”) so let us be thankful.  And amused at his glorious use of language.
